Huge Win For Kenya As It Scoops Big At The 2019 World Travel Awards

Kenya is a leading tourist destination on the continent, and this was reaffirmed at the recently held World Travel Awards Africa & Indian Ocean Gala Ceremony in Mauritius. The East African country scooped awards in different categories, cementing its position as a preferred top destination for tourists. 

World Travel Awards also unveiled the country as the host for next year's edition of the Africa and Indian Ocean Gala Ceremony. The country was the best beach destination, prominent meeting and conference destination as well as the foremost Airline. Kenya Tourism Board (KTB) emerged as the best tourism board in Africa. And this is for the 7th time. The Kenyatta International Conference Centre in Nairobi was named Africa's Leading Business Travel Destination. 

The KTB CEO, Dr. Betty Radier said, "We are honored to have once again been recognized at the World Travel Awards prestigious awards both as a prime destination and marketing agency years running. Tourism data shows there were two million visitors arriving in Kenya in 2018 compared with 1.5 million international check-ins the previous year. I congratulate the KTB team for working tirelessly to continue to make our beautiful country stand out in the highly competitive tourism market."

Tourism is certainly on the rise according to Dr. Betty Radier and these wins come as a very timely boost for bolstering the tourism sector in Kenya. 

"We are extremely excited and delighted to be able to host WTA in Kenya; the Home of Safari, Tropical Beaches, Rich Culture and Heritage. A fantastic destination that offers exciting authentic experiences," she added.

KTB seem very keen on strengthening and promoting the brand Kenya. Kenya is a favourite destination in the tourist markets. 

For Dr. Radier, these awards and an increased number of tourists flocking into the country are an attestation of Kenya's travel and hospitality industry being on the right track. 

Kenya is also a leading economic hub in East Africa, and many global hotel brands are promising to open new facilities in Kenya over the next 4 years.

It pretty much looks like these are interesting times for Kenya's tourism sector.
