Every year our Halloween events are considered to die for... if you'll pardon the pun... We typically spend the year planning a huge Halloween festival and have decided to put together our top tips for planning the ultimate Halloween party.
Theme
The proper theme should be at the top of your list of priorities, once you have a proper theme everything else will fall into place. Having a general party theme is going to also allow your guests an idea of how to dress and what they can expect. Every year, we will come up with a different theme for our Halloween party. From this point, we will plan various activities, decorations, special effects, and storylines designed around this particular theme. An example of this would be a horror farm theme that allows for a wide variety of activities and decorations, many people are surprised at just how scary a typical form can be once draped with special effects.
Dressing It Up
There you are decorating one room or an entire venue, you must keep the overall theme in mind and choose the right decorations. Perhaps you've decided upon Dracula's bride as a party theme, a good choice would be fangs, bats, white netting and of course a generous supply of blood. For a less bloody theme, you may consider Disney bad guys. Who would not want to see their boss dressed up as Jafar from Aladdin or Ursula from The Little Mermaid?
Special Effects
The simple special effects are going to make your party the absolute bomb and they are not going to break your bank either! Awesome Halloween parties strive on strobe effects, smoke, and hydraulics, we absolutely understand that not everybody has the technical knowledge more budget for such a Halloween party. A cheap alternative is using Co2 poppers for sale, slime with rubber worms and spiders, and allowing the people to fish around for fun and inexpensive prizes. During the evening, you can create inexpensive jump scares around the Halloween party with things as simple as an individual jumping out of dark corners or using unexpected contact lenses that glow.
Games
To get the party really flowing, you'll want some simple activities and fun games. One of the most popular activities during a party its pumpkin carving, just remember this can be a messy activity. It is best to have a specified area for carving that is covered with plastic and plenty of trash cans. Costume competitions are always an excellent way to get your guest to put in more of an effort on their costumes and bobbing for apples is still a mainstay of Halloween parties across the globe. The key to having an excellent Halloween party is to use your imagination and try to put a spooky spin on typical games and activities. Offering prizes and treats is a great way to get people more involved and having a good time.
Food and Drink
Let's admit it, no Halloween party is complete without incredible food and drinks. All you have to do is Google Halloween food and treats for an incredible listing. Check out the bloodied meatloaf or hot dogs that appear like severed fingers. For a more adult flair, you may want to introduce zombie cocktails into the mix. This can be made in advance and placed in a punch bowl allowing guests to help themselves. Just remember that almost any food or drink can be given that Halloween flair to make your Halloween party a smashing success! Always remember that creativity is always going to win in the end.
