Uganda and Botswana Rated Highest for Friendliness and Good Governance

Africa has diverse cultures and social systems thanks to its 54 countries each with different ethnic beliefs and practices.

Additionally, African nations are known for a number of things across the globe. From Nigeria to Kenya, South Africa, Egypt, Seychelles, these countries have created a good name for themselves and the continent. They are known for hosting best economies, tech hubs, innovations in Agriculture, to best tourist destinations, among many other great things.

In this article, we have covered two countries (Botswana and Uganda) known for good governance and welcoming nature, respectively.

Uganda

Located in East Africa, Uganda rated the highest for friendliness, according to InterNations report. The report said that 57% of expats in the country described it as a friendly nation- the best possible rating as the global rating was 26%.

InterNations Ambassador Nadya Mileva agrees that Ugandans are ‘amazingly friendly’.

“The country has a lot to offer, from breathtaking landscapes to high-end restaurants and bars to year-round summer,” she added. Mileva is originally from Bulgaria now living in Kampala.

In addition to the warm reception, the country is also very affordable for food and labor. Ugandans also enjoy the arts and party life, making it even more exciting to live or stay for holidays.

Botswana

The World Bank and Rule of Law Index have ranked Botswana as the strongest-governed countries in Africa. The Southern Africa nation is known for employing stringent measures to contain corruption. It also ensures there’s equal distribution of the national revenue from diamond mining across the country.

In a statement, Sehenyi Tlotlego Botswana native and philanthropy coordinator for Safari Company Sanctuary Retreats said: “the entire country was founded on national unity and that is still the case to date”.

“We are a nation that believes and practices Ntwa kgolo ke ya molomo, which means ‘Disputes are resolved effectively by debating them to a conclusion, and not by going to war’,” he added.

Moreover, Tlotlego says the Batswana are a liberal society where “color, religion and gender doesn’t matter, and we will tackle, head-on, any form of injustice.” It also scores high in the freedom of the press and personal property rights.
