President Cyril Ramaphosa Exposes The Truth Behind The U.S.-China Trade War

The U.S. – China trade war is a reflection of the selfish nature of world leaders. It shows how low respected figures can go in getting their hands dirty just to achieve petty aims.

It is indeed a matter of concern that two world powers in the United States and China cannot reach an agreement on trade deals, yet they claim to be the best candidates to rule the world.

The trade war is proof that neither the United States of America nor China has the leadership capabilities to lead the world. They are both entangled in their own circles, immersed in jealousy and greed.

Concerned Citizens of the world have watched with keen interest as the United States of America and China battle each other shamelessly. But both parties have continued to hide their tails between their legs and deny the claims that they are involved in a trade war, despite that the fact that it is clear to everyone.

Well, the South African president, Cyril Ramaphosa has summed up the situation and exposed the true reason behind the U.S.-China trade war.

Gone are the days when African leaders, due to fear of attracting the wrath of world powers would rather not comment on issues such as this.

Today, African leaders are speaking loud and making their candid opinions heard on international issues without fear or favor, and this is a good step in the right direction.

African leaders like Nana Akufo-Addo, Abiy Ahmed, Paul Kagame, and a few others have become voices of reason in recent times and have not failed to point their fingers at world powers when needed.

South Africa’s president, Cyril Ramaphosa appears to have put his acts together and found his voice also.

Speaking over the weekend, the president identified jealousy as the reason behind the U.S. – China trade war. He further said that Africa cannot allow its economy to be held back by the U.S.- China trade war, which he said was born out of selfishness.

Speaking at the Digital Economy Summit, Ramaphosa said local telecommunications companies, which he did not name, had written to him before he attended last weekend’s G20 summit, urging him to intervene.

“We cannot afford to have our own economy being held back as there is this fight that the U.S is fighting born out of their own jealousy,” said Ramaphosa.

He said the telecommunication firms had written to him concerned about the impact the trade war would have in relation to the Chinese telecoms equipment maker Huawei Technologies.

“They said, Mr. President, this tussle that is happening between China and the United States around a company called Huawei is going to hurt us because we want to go to 5G and only this company Huawei can lead us to 5G but the United States is now punishing them,’” he said at the Digital Economy summit.

You will recall that Huawei has been a component of the trade war that has hung over financial markets, with President Donald Trump recently agreeing to loosen restrictions on Huawei after meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping at the G20 summit.

In May, the company was added to the so-called Entity List, which bans American firms from selling to it without special permission, as punishment for alleged actions against U.S. national security interests.
