American rapper and actor, Ludacris has visited Ghana in celebration of “The Year of Return”. “The Year of Return” is an initiative by Ghana to invite all Ghanaians in Diaspora to return home, to learn, explore and also invest in the West African country.
Ghana's President Nana Akufo-Addo formally launched the “Year of Return, Ghana 2019” in Washington, D.C., in September 2018. He declared a fresh impetus to the quest to unite Africans on the continent with their brothers and sisters in the diaspora.
Ever since the commencement of the initiative, several African-Americans have made their way to Ghana to learn more about their history.
Dressed in a customized T-shirt tagged “Year of Return,” the actor shared a photo of himself on Instagram, standing in front of one of a slave room at the Elmina Castle in Cape Coast in the Central Region of Ghana.
He captioned the photo with:
"Our ancestors never gave up Faith. You can never imprison our minds nor our spirits. They empowered me to Return. I have completed the cycle, and I’m beginning a new Cycle. The Chains have been Broken and the indomitable resilience of African People Triumphs 🙏🏽 ✊🏽.”
Ludacris announced earlier this month that he would be visiting Gabon and Ghana over the Christmas holiday period.
His relations to Gabon are tied to his wife Eudoxie Mbouguiengue, the 33-year-old model. The trip is also tied to the celebration of the couple’s fifth wedding anniversary. They got married in 2014 and have a daughter named Cadence.
Posts on Ludacris’ Instagram page showed him enjoying time with his family in the Central African country. From a time in the pool to a dance session and soaking in local Gabonese culture.

In announcing his Christmas plans, Ludacris posted a map of Africa on Instagram with the location set on Gabon. He captioned the photo: "Motherland Ludacrismas, This Year."
Eudoxie Mbouguiengue was born on May 14, 1986, in Gabon to an American father and a Gabonese mother; she spent most of her childhood days in the French-speaking country before moving to the United States.
She is currently a model with over a million followers on Instagram. She is also an author and founder of Unspoken Angels, a charity event that raises funds to create awareness about sexual and mental maltreatment.
