Israel to Pay Civilians Around $9,000 to help deport African Migrants

It is now clear that Israel will do absolutely everything and anything within its power to get rid of African migrants and the country's attempts have since gone beyond the realm of reason. The country's Population and Immigration Authority in an advertisement said it would pay up to 30,000 Israeli shekels ($8,845) for civilians to embark on an “enterprise of national importance.” This enterprise includes undertaking "enforcement tasks" against migrants. The plan comes after the country offered African migrants around $3,500 for them to leave Israel. Getting a little desperate!

 Israel's civilian recruits are expected to start working in March. This gives them a month before imprisonments begin. Until then, Israel is keen to sponsor travel tickets out of the country for the around 40,000 migrants. Most of the migrants are from Eritrea and Sudan where they fled persecution and war. However, Israel believes they are economic refuges and has labelled them "infiltrators" on good days, and "a cancer" on the rest.

Meanwhile, Holocaust survivors sent a letter to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu asking him not to deport the African migrants. They wrote, "We – who know what it means to be a refugee, to be without a home or a country that would protect and defend us from violence and suffering – cannot understand how a Jewish government can expel refugees and asylum seekers to a journey of pain, suffering and death." 

It is doubtful that Netanyahu will be moved.
