Opposition leader Raila Odinga and Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru have finally reconciled.
Raila Odinga shared news and pictures of the reconciliation meeting at his Capitol Hill office on social media with a caption that says they have both decided to put the past behind them and want to “let bygones be bygones and leave the matter of the NYS scandal in the hands of investigators.”
Raila Odinga, who is the former Prime Minister of Kenya and currently the High Representative for Infrastructure Development in Africa, and Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru were sworn enemies and could best be described as parallel lines.
Their rift started in 2015 after Ralia linked Anne Waiguru to the multi-million scandal at the National Youth Service (NYS) while he was prime minister.

“Held a meeting this afternoon with the Governor of Kirinyaga County Anne Waiguru and agreed to “let by-gones be by-gones” and leave the matter of the NYS scandal in the hands of investigators.
"Ms Waiguru said her case against me is now settled in the spirit of reconciliation that the nation has embarked on. We also reviewed the status of devolution in the country and agreed to exchange views frequently on how to address the challenges.”
Governor Anne Waiguru in the spirit of reconciliation has agreed to withdraw the defamation charges she filed against Raila in 2015.
The news of the reconciliation erupted mixed reactions from Kenyans and Africans alike. While some applaud the decision, others feel it was born out of their personal selfish interests, not the people.
