When Hon. Mwiru Paul, MP representing Jinja Municipality East, Uganda was released from detention in August this year, he said when speaking to the media after his release that prison breaks the body but not the spirit; perhaps he was right.
Last week we reported the detention of Ugandan Academia, Human Rights Activist and renowned critic of President Yoweri Museveni's led government, who was arrested for allegedly insulting the late mother of the president, Esteri Kokundeka in a Facebook post.

While friends and supporters of the Human rights Activists are busy canvassing for her release, it appears Dr. Stella Nyanzi does not intent to leave prison anytime soon as she seems to be enjoying the company of the other inmates she tends to groom as advocates who would speak for what they believe after their release.
Dr. Stella Nyanzi has been reported by local media to have refused bail, saying she wants to spend more time behind bars to enable her teach teach inmates of the prisons how to use Facebook.
"What are they investigating - that Yoweri Museveni is still offended? I will go and be with those ladies in Luzira [Prison] teaching them how to write on Facebook," she was quoted as saying.
“When they are released they can write as much as I do. As a writer… A poetess… writing to a broad group of people, I write criticizing the regime,” she added.
