Aqua poetically immortalizes it when they said being a ‘Barbie girl in a Barbie world—a life of plastic is fantastic.’

Barbie is a popular cartoon character and fashion doll manufactured by the American toy company Mattel, Inc. It was first launched in March 1959 by American businesswoman, Ruth Handler. It is believed that she created the doll with inspiration from a German doll called Bild Lilli.

The company has taken a step further to use the dolls to immortalize great legends and icons – a league into which Ghanaian-British model, Adwoa Aboah has been inducted.

She now joins the ranks of legends like Beyonce, Diana Rose, Elvis Presley, J. K. Rowling, Katy Perry, Heidi Klum, Jeniffer Lopez, Nicki Minaj, Shakira etc. who have all had Barbie dolls designed after them in the past.

Adwoa Aboah is a Ghanaian-British top fashion model. She has appeared on the covers of revered magazines such as British Vogue, American Vogue, Vogue Italia, Vogue Poland, and i-D. In 2017, she was voted as Model of the Year for models.com.

She got her own Barbie doll today, Wednesday, March 6, 2019, ahead of International Women’s Day on Friday, March 8.

The founder of the “really happy” Gurls Talk was all smiles as she was introduced to her unique Role Model Barbie at Mattel in Los Angeles in the United States earlier today.

The doll was dressed in a replica of a Michael Halpern dress, a Stephen Jones Millinery for Halpern turban and Christian Louboutin shoes.

“It’s just so nice them not knowing me and them taking into account all the things that make me, me, in terms of my tattoos, my earrings, the shape of my head and the freckles and the skin complexion and it’s wonderful to know that although they have never met me, they have taken such great pleasure in making sure that it is a perfect, kind of representation of who I am”, she remarked.

The doll also has another outfit, a casual look of a Gurls Talk T-shirt and leopard print skirt.

Adwoa Aboah was born in London in 1992.

Her father was born and raised in Ghana before immigrating to England.
