How South African Fashion Week Blew Us Away

The just concluded South African Fashion Week(SAFW) was a show of creativity and craftsmanship. With well over 25 shows spread across different days of the week, fashion lovers,buyers and editors were spoiled for choice. In as much as we would all love to attend SAFW to ogle at the wonderful designs and make purchases, it may not be possible because of various reasons. But worry not! Here are some of the runway shows you may have missed:

Mantsho by Palesa Mokubung:

Palesa Mokubung is a visionary when it comes to creating.She doesn't just create clothes.She creates wearable art while keeping the African aesthetic.Her runway designs for this season were no different. The girls' hair was slicked back and accessorized while their makeup was kept neutral with a pop of colour in the form of a pinky-coral lip. Atelier Dajee:

I can describe this upcoming designer's collection as chic and effortless. It featured a monochrome palette consisting of blacks,whites and greys created from fabrics ranging from chiffon to lace. The models were given a nude lip with long,straight hair parted down the middle.

Her Ritual:

The designer, Tshegofatso Sithole, went with some fringed hemlines and fringed tops with a juxtaposition of chiffon which is a soft, flowy fabric. Earth tones like browns and taupes featured heavily in this collection.Hair and makeup was kept soft and sleek. 

Sheila-Madge:

This fashion label is created and led by the creative Sheila-Madge.This and every other collection features interesting elements that bring out the expressive nature of the creator.With cosy,colourful knits as the theme that runs all through, this collection is for the young at heart and rebellious spirit.Learn more about Sheila-Madge on sheilamadge.com.

Sun Goddess:

This collection will bring out your inner deity. It is definitely guaranteed to get heads turning. This collection was made with a combination of fabrics and silhouettes.From long A-Line gowns to mid-calf lace dresses and thigh-high slits, it is as diverse as they get. The looks were styled using lace-up boots, gladiator sandals, beads and sunglasses. Oh so stunning!

Presidential:

The flamboyance and high quality nature of designs and fabrics, make Presidential what it is. This design house makes apparel for both men and women. Their runway show featured a varied colour palette and was knee-deep in prints.This season Presidential treated us to loads of silk suits, long-line shirts and collarless blazers, which left us nothing short of impressed.For more on Presidential ,visit : http://www.presidential.co.za/home
