In a leaked audio message in Hausa language and subtitled in English Language, El-Zakzaky accused the Nigerian authority of conniving with Indian authority to frustrate him by providing substandard medical treatment to him.
He said he was suppose treated at Medanta Hospital in New Delhi. However, he claimed that the hospital management was threatened never to admit him.
“The hospital I was taken to is pathetic and worrisome,” he said.
According to him, “The hospital officials received us well they told us that they parked two ambulance vehicles, deceiving the crowd while taking us out through another way, saying that it was for our safety.
He said he and his wife Zeenat were placed under a tighter security situation “worse than what we have been witnessed in Nigeria. We are currently more confined than when we were in Nigeria, worse than a prison setting.”
The IMN leader and his had been detained since December 2015 after a clampdown by soldiers who allegedly killed at more than 300 IMN members. The group has been proscribed by a recent court decision, though it has launched an appeal.
