Ghanaian-American Wrestler, Kofi Kingston Emerges World Wrestling Champion

The argument whether the World Wrestling Entertainment belongs in the sporting world or in Hollywood remains one without end. No one on either side of the divide is ever willing to give in to the other.

Whether scripted or not, the millions of fans of the World Wrestling Federation – Trademark owners of WrestleMania and Monday Night Raw, do not care. All they care about are the bouts where super fit and handsome young men (and beautiful sexy ladies) battle it out for the belt.

The story line of the characters in the World Wrestling Entertainment is as interesting as the fights and it is an internal recognition to be a wrestling champion.

Many wrestlers from World Wrestling Entertainment have gone on to become movie superstars. Notable among them is The Rock, Batista, The Miz, Undertaker, Stone Cold, Triple H, etc.

Well, now Africa now has a son among the high ranks of champions of the prestigious World Wrestling Entertainment. It is none other than the Ghana-American wrestler, Kofi Kingston who found his way into the ring just a few years ago.

Kofi Kingston is the current champion of the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), yeah you heard me right!

Kingston won the revered title after defeating the WWE defending champion, Daniel Bryan at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

According to reports, he has been wrestling for 11 years.

After the fight, the world champion took to Twitter to appreciate his fans through his official handle @TrueKofi, saying:

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you all.

Without your love & support, especially over the past couple of months, none of this happens. You helped me achieve my childhood dream & I’m eternally grateful for each & every one of you.

The WWE official report on the fixture between Kofi and Daniel described the bout which took place at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, as “one of the most emotional in Wrestle Mania history.”

“With the capacity crowd of 82,265 fans, as well as the Smack Down locker room cheering him on, Kingston managed to persevere through every cruel and unusual maneuver the sadistic Bryan managed to apply,” the report added.
