The Commonwealth Secretariat is proud to support youth empowerment through our Young Professionals Programme (YPP).
The YPP creates multiple opportunities for talented and qualified young people from across the Commonwealth to contribute to our core work through the transference of technical expertise, innovative ideas, specialist knowledge, and fresh perspectives.
Other responsibilities entailed in this role include (but are not limited to):
- Assisting the ITP Section with literature reviews, data analysis, information gathering and analytical work on trade and trade-related development issues;
- Working with the relevant Advisers in conducting analysis on multilateral and regional trade negotiation issues of interest to member countries;
- Assisting the ITP Section in the preparatory processes for major publication projects and their dissemination;
- Assisting the Section in preparing analytical and briefing papers on issues of interest, such as multilateral and regional trade negotiations, supply chains, South-South trade, and other trade-related emerging and development issues;
- Assisting with and conducting other trade-related research as required, and contributing to speeches, presentations and talking points for senior officials.

Africa Delivery Hub Young African Leaders Fellow Opportunity
The Young Leaders Program (YLP) is a 2 year full time consulting program that develops exceptional young local talent into real leaders. You’ll work in teams of typically 3-5 consultants, playing an active role in all aspects of the client engagement.

Apply to be a UNV Specialists – COVID-19 Response (Fully-funded)
With the aim of supporting the UN’s response to COVID-19, Sida finances the services of various organizations (UNDP, UN Women, UN RCO, WHO) through the UN volunteer program UNV.
The initiative enables experienced specialists in statistics, information and data management to contribute to the response in Mexico, Morocco, Mozambique, Pakistan and Zambia.
By volunteering, United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programs contribute to peace and development worldwide. UNV has 150 employees and almost 7,000 UN volunteers in 130 countries, about 400 of whom are youth volunteers.
With funding from Sida, UNV recruits 5 persons, who will start their assignments as soon as possible.
Note, however, that some services may need to be started remotely as a result of travel restrictions due to COVID-19

UNESCO ICT in Education Programme Officer Opportunity
UNESCO Regional Bureau for Education in Asia-Pacific based in Bangkok Thailand, is seeking to hire a Programme Officer (ICT in Education) to join the Section for Inclusive Quality Education to contribute to the regional programme in the areas of ICT in education.
Under the overall authority of the Director of UNESCO Asia-Pacific Regional Bureau for Education, the direct supervision of the Chief of Section Inclusive Quality Education (IQE), and daily guidance of the Team Leader of Education Planning and Management (EPM), the Programme Officer shall be responsible for the planning, implementation, coordination and monitoring of the biennium programme activities and projects on ICT in education.
Duties:
Specifically, the incumbent will perform the following duties:
- Manage and coordinate the implementation and monitoring of two ongoing capacity-building projects in ICT in education.
- Organize, coordinate and facilitate national/regional workshops, manage and monitor project budgets, resource allocation, prepare project monitoring reports, maintain donor relations, develop project communication materials, briefs, and manage project external evaluations, etc.
- Conceptualize, organize, and facilitate a regional symposium on ICT in Education (South Asia) and provide technical support to other regional/sub-regional initiatives on ICT in education;
- Manage the tasks and performance of interns or volunteers and provide guidance and support.
- Undertake tasks involving inputs related to ICT in education as directed by the Chief of Section.

Commonwealth Youth Correspondent Opportunity 2020
Commonwealth Correspondents are aspiring youth leaders or talented writers who contribute their articles, photos and videos about local, national and international issues to the YourCommonwealth.org website.
Each article is around 300 to 600 words in length, while videos are under five minutes. If an article needs further work to enhance it, the Correspondent will receive guidance from the editorial team to develop the article. The final draft of the article or video is then published on the website.
Each applicant must:
- Be 15 – 29 years old. If you are under 18 years old, please ask a parent or guardian to email us and grant permission for you to participate
- Be a national of a Commonwealth country
- Attach two (2) writing samples of no more than 600 words each or a video of no more than 5 minutes in length
- Attach a good quality headshot
- Submit at least five contributions in the first year, and at least two in every subsequent year, to be considered active.
- Adhere to the Editorial Code of Conduct
