Are Africans Inferior Compared To The Europeans, Asians and Americans?

This African narrative leaves a sour taste in the mouth and sadly so; but are we truly children of a lesser God? How can a continent so bless with vast deposits of countless mineral resources - which continue to be in high demand worldwide find it hard to feed herself? How is it that a continent blessed with huge manpower have children who die of hunger? Are we children of a lesser God?

Looking at the situation in Africa today, one would think Africans are less human compared to the Europeans and Asians; and that we are godforsaken children of a lesser entity. Although this is far from the truth, the realities speak otherwise as Africa continues to lick the buttocks of her colonial masters in a constant appeal for aid.

The truth is that we are not children of a lesser God; rather, Africa suffers from a fundamental problem, and the problem of Africa is the problem of leadership. Africa has the worst crop of leaders in the entire universe and they are bent on crippling the continent without taking the future of the young ones into consideration.

The leadership crisis in every country in Africa is one and the same. African leaders are so full of greed and are often power drunk gluttons who want to die on the seat of power. Africa is indeed a sad contrast of itself; some have so much that they swim in pools of British Pounds and American Dollars, sleep on a bed made of gold and have properties they do not need in every major city of the world; while their neighbor cannot afford water for her dying child.

Africans have become so self-centered that we have lost the very essence of humanity and with each passing day subject our feelings and human sympathy to a slow but eventual death. How long can we continue like this when children and women die in their numbers daily?

Government authorities not only steal from the poor masses but also seek aids from Asia, Europe, and America using the future of generations unborn as a worthy barter.

Every day we hear in the news how the poverty index in Africa is increasing and how more countries continue to climb high on the ladder inflation and recession as though their lives depend on it. Just recently, news broke that South Africa plunged into recession.

The news came to many with great surprise considering the fact that South Africa is one of Africa’s strongest economies and a destination haven for many Africans.

What was more surprising however was the fact that this was happening at a time when Nigeria - Africa's most populous nation and ‘big brother’ in the African continent was battling the shackles of recession also.

Africa is currently the poverty capital of the world with many of its member countries occupying the top slots on the list of poorest countries in the world. The issue here is that these countries (like the others on the list) export natural resources which they have in high quantities and are in high demand worldwide.

Take DR Congo, for instance, Congo O' Congo! What has befallen thee? By standard, the country should be one of the wealthiest countries in the world, ahead of Switzerland and Luxemburg due to its large deposits of minerals, but the reserve is the case.

In 2009, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) had an estimated $24 trillion in untapped mineral deposits, including the world's largest reserves of Coltan and significant quantities of the world's Cobalt. How then is Congo on the list of poorest Countries in the World?

In a report written by Dan Snow - a British Television Presenter and Historian, he classified DR Congo as a country "Cursed by its natural wealth". He began his article with the following lines:

"The Democratic Republic of Congo is potentially one of the richest countries on earth, but colonialism, slavery, and corruption have turned it into one of the poorest."

It is no news that majority of the world's mining operations are connected to the waters of the mighty Congo River, yet the country remains one of the poorest in the world. Many link this to the great wars, slavery, and colonialism; but in truth, the real problem of Congo as it is with Africa as a whole is Leadership.

The time is now to act and stand for our rights.
