1. Pan African University Masters Degree & PhD Scholarships 2020
Application Deadline: 10 September, 2020
The Pan African University is an initiative of the Heads of State and Government of the African Union. It is a Premier continental university network whose mission is to provide quality postgraduate education geared towards the achievement of a prosperous, integrated and peaceful Africa.
Young, qualified, talented and enterprising applicants from African countries and the African Diaspora are invited to apply to join Masters or PhD degree programmes at any of the following four PAU institutes listed below.
Candidates with potential, motivation and who desire to play transformative leadership roles as academics, professionals, industrialists, innovators and entrepreneurs are particularly encouraged to apply.
Requirements:
- Maximum age of 30 years for male and 35 years for female applicants
- Undergraduate degree from a recognized university, with at least a second class upper division or its equivalent, in a relevant field;
- Certified copies of relevant certificates, transcripts
- Passport or National I.D. card
- Clear colored passport size photograph (2cmx2cm)
- Detail CV
- Recommendation letter from ONE of his/her former University lecturers

2. Princeton University Postdoctoral Research Associate Scholarship in Development Finance 2020
Application Deadline: 1 September, 2020
The Empirical Studies of Conflict Project (ESOC) at the Princeton School of Public and International Affairs and the Department of Operations Research and Financial Engineering (ORFE) at Princeton University seek candidates for a two-year postdoctoral research associate position in the area of Development Finance starting on or about September 1, 2020.
The appointment will be through the Princeton School of Public and International Affairs. In addition to pursuing their own independent research, the Postdoctoral Research Associate will play a key role in supporting the new Princeton Institute for International and Regional Studies Research Community on Development Finance in fragile and conflict-affected states.
Eligibility:
- Applicants must have received a Ph.D., received or expected between September 2017 and September 2020, in such fields as Economics, Operations Research, or Data Science.
- Postdoctoral Research Associates are expected to participate actively in the intellectual activities of Princeton University. This is a 12-month term appointment with the possibility of renewal contingent on satisfactory performance and funding.

3. Harvard University Academy Scholarship Program 2020/2021
Application Deadline: 1 October, 2020
Applications are open for the Harvard University Academy Scholars Program 2021.
The Academy Scholars Program identifies and supports outstanding scholars at the start of their careers whose work combines disciplinary excellence in the social sciences or law with a command of the language and history or culture of countries or regions outside of the United States or Canada.
Their scholarship may elucidate domestic, comparative, or transnational issues, past or present.
The Academy Scholars are a select community of individuals with resourcefulness, initiative, curiosity, and originality, whose work in cultures or regions outside of the US or Canada shows promise as a foundation for exceptional careers in major universities or international institutions.
Application Requirements:
- The completed application will include:
- Cover letter which succinctly states the applicant’s academic field, country or region of specialization, and proposed research topic
- Curriculum vitae (CV) or resumé; including list of publications
- Research proposal (2500 word maximum); including intellectual objectives and planned methodological and disciplinary work
- A copy of your PhD program transcript
- Three letters of recommendation (uploaded through the online application)

4. African Water Resources Mobility Network Scholarship Programme
Application Deadline: 16 August, 2020
Applications for the African Water Resources Mobility Network (AWaRMN) Programme – MSc/MTech call 2021 are now open.
They invited suitably qualified and outstanding candidates for full-time study in any of the Master of Science/ Master of Technology (MSc/MTech) academic mobility scholarship programmes of AWaRMN in any of the Higher Education Institutions within the partnership.
For successful applicants, AWaRMN funding will cover the following areas:
- Participation costs (e.g. tuition/registration fees) of students
- Research costs (e.g. field work, laboratory consumables)
- Subsistence allowance: MSc/MTech: 600 Euro per month
- Special allowance to female students for mobility equal or more than 2 academic years, viz – MSc/MTech: 600 Euro per year.
- Economy class round trip flight ticket and visa costs
- Insurance (Health, accident and travel)
- One-off settling-in allowance upon arrival to cover installation costs, 600 Euro.
Eligibility
Applicants must:
- Be a national of an African Union member state and resident in Africa at the time of application;
- Meet both institutional and partnership requirements for admission;
- Not have benefited from any form of previous support from Intra-Africa Academic Mobility Scheme, or Intra-ACP Mobility or Erasmus or Erasmus + programmes;
- Must be prepared to move to another country where AWaRM has a partner institution

5. Open University Business and Law Schools PhD Studentships 2021
Application Deadline: 7 September, 2020
The Open University Business and Law Schools invite applications for a number of full-time funded PhD studentships beginning February 1, 2021 on ‘Responding to COVID-19 and the Climate Emergency’.
This themed call is for PhD research projects that consider the organisational and legal challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic and/or the climate emergency – as urgent, complex societal problems that management, business and legal researchers can help to address.
Benefits
- Studentships cover tuition fees, a generous research training support grant and a stipend (circa £15,285 per annum) for 36 months.
- PhD studentships are based on full-time study for three years at the Milton Keynes campus. Students are normally expected to live within commuting distance of Milton Keynes.
Eligibility
- Applicants for the PhD programme should have minimum qualifications of an upper second class honours degree 2:1 (or an equivalent) and usually a specialist masters in a subject relevant to the intended study with a strong research element.
- The University requires a minimum IELTS score of 6.5 with no less than 6.0 in any of the four categories (or approved equivalent). You should have your level of proficiency certified through a provider approved by UK Visas and Immigration and provide your certificate and grade with your application.

6. DAAD climapAfrica Scholarship 2020 for Africans in Climate Research
Application Deadline: 14 September, 2020
Applications are open for the DAAD climapAfrica scholarship 2020 for Africans in Climate Research.
The DAAD climapAfrica program in cooperation with the climate competence centers SASSCAL and WASCAL aims to foster application-oriented research results to tackle climate change in southern and western Africa.
The program funds postdoctoral research projects and offers a platform for collaboration in thematic working groups composed of postdoctoral fellows and African alumni of German funding initiatives with expertise in the field of climate research.
Benefits:
- A flat-rate travel allowance to your target country and back
- A research lump sum of maximum EUR 10,000
- A monthly allowance of EUR 800
- An accident, personal liability and health insurance
- Additionally, support for the following activities can be granted (subject to availability of funds)
- Short-term research stays in Germany (2 to 6 months)
Eligibility
- Must be nationals of an African Country
- Should be willing to contribute to the initiation and the coordination of alumni working groups
- Should be willing to realize their project at a host institution in western or southern Africa

7. Japan-WCO Human Resource Development Scholarship 2020
Application Deadline: 10 August, 2020
The Japan-WCO Human Resource Development Programme (Scholarship Programme) provides a grant covering travel, subsistence, admission, tuition and other approved expenses to enable promising young Customs managers from a developing country member of the WCO to undertake Master’s level studies at the Aoyama Gakuin University (AGU) in Tokyo, Japan.
Eligibility Requirements
- A candidate must be a customs officer of a developing member of the WCO with quality work experience of at least two years in the field of customs policy and administration in his/her home country.
- Preference will be given to candidates who have experience in IPR border enforcement, and who are expected to work in the IPR-related section of their Customs administration after this Scholarship Programme.
- A candidate must be in good health and preferably under 40 years of age as of April 1, 2021.
- Individuals who have already been awarded a scholarship under the Japan-WCO Human Resource Development Programme in the past will not be entitled to apply for this Scholarship Programme.
- After the completion of the Programme, the candidates should continue to work in their home Customs administration for 3 years at least.
Coverage
- A monthly stipend covers accommodations, meals, transportations, and other expenses. It cannot be increased to cover family members, if any. The amount of stipend is subject to change according to the decision of the Japanese Government
- Admission and tuition fees
- Round-trip economy-class air tickets between your home country and Japan
