If you are a citizen of an ECOWAS member state, then you stand a chance of winning up to $10, 000 cash!
In a competition open to all citizens of ECOWAS member state, whether living in the continent or in diaspora, leaders of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has set aside $46,000 which will be shared among the winners who are able to come up with the best proposals for the Logo and name to be adopted in the creation of the proposed single currency to be used across the region from 2020.
According to a circular from ECOWAS, the best three proposals will each be selected and all entries are to be submitted by November 20th, 2018 by 5pm, Abuja, Nigeria time (GMT+1).
However, the commission noted that:
- All proposals for currency name shall not be based on the name of a person, ethnic group or contain expressions directly linked with a religion, country or national institution among others.
- On the other hand, the logo shall among other things, symbolize unity and shared cultural and historical values of ECOWAS.
- Proposals should be addressed to: ECOWAS COMMISSION, 101 Yakubu Gowon Cressent, Asokoro District, P.M.B 401 Auja, Nigeria
The first prize for all categories of the competition includes a cash prize of $10,000 and $8,000 for the second prize, as well as $5,000 for the third prize.
