Former Plantashun Boys member who has come out to lay ownership to the award-winning song, African Queen seems is ready to take his tussle with former bandmate, 2 Face Idibia.
Blackface and 2Face are at loggerheads over the track which has won many awards within and outside the continent. It was also the hit song that brought 2Face Idibia to the spotlight.
Blackface who had persistently stated that he co-wrote the song had accused 2baba, who popularised the track, of stealing it from him.
In the meantime, Blackface has now released his own version of the controversial track. His version sounds very similar to that of 2baba except the third verse. Blackface explained that he gave the initial singer the right to sing the song but never got credited as the writer by the label.
Explaining further, Blackface added that he removed the third verse 2baba added to the song when it was produced by OJB and added his own original lyrics making this version a complete original.
He said: “The singer (2baba) included a third verse he wrote to the music when it was produced by OJB but I took that verse out and included the third I had written to make this version of mine totally written by self .”
It will be quite interesting if this new version can make waves like the first.
Plantashun Boiz was a Nigerian hip-hop and R&B music group. It consisted of 2face Idibia, Faze, and Blackface. The group was formed during their college years in the late 90s and early 2000s.
However, the trio split up after the exit of 2 Face who wanted a solo career on the platform of Kennis Music at the time. After going solo, each of them released an album with 2 Face being the first to launch his album and then Blackface followed by Faze.
