O'odua Progressives Youth Movement has handed a warning to former minister of aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode against his recent mockery comments that suggest he plans to incite the military to overthrow President Buhari.
In an article on Thursday, May 18, 2019, the former minister said that “Ever since 1968, the northern ruling class had always effected a coup d’etat whenever they feel sufficiently threatened with the loss of power.”
In his writing, Fani-Kayode said they rather have a northern military dictator in power than a southern leader or president. He said they were prepared to kill anyone, no matter how highly placed, who stands in their way or who attempts to oppose or stop them.
In response to the comments, the national coordinator of the group, Kola Salawu accused Fani-Kayode of being among those politicians who are planning to overthrow the ailing Buhari.
Fani-Kayode’s comments come after Junaid Mohammed, a second republic lawmaker, made a similar threat of a coup insisting that the north would remain in power irrespective of the outcomes.
The military authorities however said it was focused on its job and won’t be lured to politics.
Kola Salawu told Fani- Kayode to get actual lawyers to defend his corruption cases in court instead of wishing for a military coup or the disintegration of the country neither would happen for him to escape all the corruption allegations against him in the various courts of law.
Others planning a coup were asked to first deal with problems facing the country created by those who are planning to overthrow the government.
