For a lot of gamers, Pokemon was a defining part of their childhood. Adventuring the world and catching Pokemon is an unrivaled experience and one that many gamers miss. Well, if you've already caught all the Pokemon and are looking for the next Pokemon style game, then we've got you covered. Here are the best Pokemon like games as of right now.
TemTem
By far, the most popular creature collection game currently on the market is Temtem. Temtem successfully captures all the magic of the original Pokemon games while offering a totally fresh and engaging gaming experience. It's not a Pokemon clone - it's an exciting game in its own right.
Players explore the Airborne Archipelago's six islands, taming creatures, while constantly under threat from Clan Belsoto, an evil organization determined to take control of the islands.
Here's what you need to know about Temtem:
● Players capture creatures and battle against enemy players or NPCs.
● Creature battles are two on two, so there's a lot to think about if you want to secure a win.
● RNG (randomly generated numbers) is not a part of the game. You can't win a match by getting a random critical strike that you didn't earn. You win based on your skills and strategy. Players are rewarded for being the best!
● Players progress through a combination of the Main Quest storyline and side quests. While out in the world, you also come across "Courses", the Temtem version of Technical Machines from the Pokemon franchise.
● The game is incredibly smooth. Everything just works.
Temtem is definitely worth checking out if you haven't already. It's available on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC. If you're looking to get started, you can buy Temtem items and Temtem accounts online at Eldorado.gg.
World of Final Fantasy Maxima
In this game, you follow twins Lann and Reynn as they battle amnesia. They're unsure who they are but start to journey in the world after meeting a mysterious woman who tells them they are Mirage Keepers. Mirages are creatures you can capture and train for battle. The game was released in 2016 and has had a ton of content updates since then, so there are lots of Mirages to capture. The game is available on Xbox, PC, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch.
Slime Rancher
In the game, you play the part of Slime Rancher Beatrix, described as a "plucky young rancher". Beatrix is currently a thousand light-years away from Earth, trying to make a life for herself wrangling Slimes. Slimes are these cute little creatures that you collect using a Slime gun. After collecting the slime, you take them to your Ranch, where you house them in what are essentially cages. Safe in their cages, Slime release plorts, which you can sell to earn the currency Newbucks. There are tons of different slimes you can collect to make increasing amounts of currency, becoming a rich (but evil) rancher. Through scientific experiments, you can also create your own new slimes. For a game with a fairly dark premise, it's surprisingly light and airy. The game is available on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC.
Digimon World: Next Order
Fans of Pokemon are usually fans of Digimon too, so this one shouldn't come as too much of a surprise. In Next Order, players raise and train two Digimon to fight alongside them against other players they encounter in the world. Since you can only have a maximum of two Digimon, this game is more for players who enjoy developing a bond and sinking lots of energy into a few creatures. If you're all about collecting as many creatures as you can, then this game might not be for you. The game is available on PS4.
Yo-Kai Watch
Yo-Kai Watch is a Japanese creature hunter RPG with its own companion, Manga. Currently, the game is on its third installment Yo-Kai 3, with Yo-Kai 4 in the works for the future. You switch between playing two characters (Nate and Hailey) on two opposite hemispheres. Players collect Yo-Kai, which are ghostly like spirits, which you can evolve and battle. There are over 600 types of Yo-Kai in the game, so you're in no danger of running out of spirits to capture.
Monster Hunter Stories
Originally released on the Nintendo 3DS and now available on iPhone, iPad, and Android. You play a plucky monster rider who tames monsters and rides them around the map. There's also a storyline to keep you busy and tell you where to go.
