Senegalese supernatural drama film Atlantics has lost to Korean psychological thriller Parasite in the Critics Choice Awards held today in The Barker Hangar, Santa Monica, California, United States.
The two films were competing for the Best Foreign Language Film category in the American awards.
Parasite, which also won a Golden Globe for the Best Foreign Language Film on Monday, stars Song Kang-ho, Lee Sun-kyun, Cho Yeo-jeong, Choi Woo-shik and Park So-dam, and follows the members of a poor household scheming to become employees of a much wealthier family by posing as unrelated, highly qualified individuals. Atlantics had also been submitted for the Golden Globes in this category but did not make the nominee list (the Golden Globes were very white this year).
Both Parasite and Atlantics have received stellar reviews and numerous accolades.
