Since it was reported that Beyoncé and her family will be heading to Ghana for the Year of Return, the internet has been abuzz trying to figure out when the Queen Bey herself will land in the West African nation. Her mother, Tina Knowles, has now been spotted in Ghana and speculation is rife that Beyoncé may be there as well.
The Year of Return 2019 is an initiative by the Ghanaian government intended to encourage African diasporans to come to Africa (specifically Ghana) to settle and invest in the continent. The initiative was formally launched by President Nana Akufo-Addo in September 2018 in Washington DC. It is symbolic in 2019 as it commemorates 400 years since the first enslaved Africans got to the United States. American celebrities such as Idris Elba, Boris Kodjoe, Naomi Campbell, Anthony Anderson, Kofi Kingston, Adrienne-Joi Johnson, Steve Harvey, Cardi B, T.I. and Christopher Brian Bridges(Ludacris) have visited Ghana in the Year of Return.
