Kenyan humanitarian, Betty Adhiambo Adera, was awarded the Global Icon Award and Medal of Honour in Hollywood for her efforts in peace-building. She received a star in Hollywood and a trophy to go along with the award.

Betty represented Nairobi County in the Miss President competition. She emerged amongst the top 5 on a platform based on eradicating domestic violence, a cause dear to her heart as she was a victim and is a survivor of domestic violence herself.
"Doing good pays not only with awards and recognition but with knowledge that a life has been saved or changed for the better. Honoured to receive Global Icon Award and Medal of Honour," she tweeted.
Betty is the founder and CEO of Betty Adera Foundation International, an organisation which focuses on prevention of gender-based violence, inspiring girls and women to take up leadership positions, youth empowerment, and peace and cohesion.
