Mahoe Bay is located in Virgin Gorda, one of the beautiful British Virgin Islands (BVI). It is less than a 10-minute drive from Spanish Town and I believe the best location in the BVI. The villas at Mahoe Bay are stunning and are unique as they are located right on the beach. Below I have outlined my 3 reasons to stay in Mahoe Bay.
1. The Beach
Mahoe Bay beach is quite simply stunning! The water is perfect for swimming and white powdery sand is exactly what you need on your vacation. It is a great beach for kids as the water is calm and really clear. It is great for snorkelling. The more advanced swimmers can go further out to see great coral and the young kids can stay close to the shore but still see some beautiful fish.
The beach is long and never gets overcrowded making it my favourite beach in the BVI. Most villas in the BVI are located on the hillside and are a short drive down to the beach so to have this amazing beach right on your doorstep, is a big plus!
2. Location
As I mentioned, Mahoe Bay is just a short drive from Spanish Town, so once you hop off your plane or ferry, you will be at your villa in no time. The roads on Virgin Gorda are good and very easy to drive on. It is a beautiful, quiet island so if you are looking for a relaxed vacation, then this is the place to be. You also have great attractions nearby such as visiting The Baths, taking a day sail or visiting a neighbouring island.
The Baths is famous around the world, so to have this amazing attraction so close to your villa, you simply must go there! With its giant boulders that form a series of spectacular pools and grottoes, The Baths are one of the BVI's favourite attractions. The sandy beach itself is small and sprinkled with magnificent rocks and has some trees for shade. There is also superb snorkelling along the areas nearby the underwater boulders and reef.
Another must when staying in Mahoe Bay is visiting Hog Heaven for lunch. It is a 10-minute drive up to Hog Heaven where you will get amazing BBQ food…but that is not the only reason to go! Hog Heaven is located on one of the highest points of the island and the views there are simply incredible. You can enjoy your favourite burger while also enjoying one of the Caribbean’s best views!
The Sugarcane restaurant is also just around the corner and with more beautiful restaurants and grocery stores in Spanish Town, you have everything at your fingertips.
3. The Villas
The villas in Mahoe Bay really beautiful and extremely popular. Our clients at Exceptional Villas are always happy when they stay here and always return! The good thing also about the villas is they are all similar in design, so if your preferred option is booked, then you know you can go next door to another villa which is just as amazing.
At Mahoe Bay, there are 6 villas directly on the beach, with 5 more just behind. So even if you are not directly on the beach, you are less than 1-minute walk to the stunning white sandy beach.
The villas range from 3 to 6 bedrooms giving you a great choice of options. I personally love Sea Fans and Caribbean Wind. Sea Fans is a beautiful 4-bedroom villa and perfect for a family or a group of friends. It is all on one level and the bedrooms are quite similar, meaning there won’t be any arguments over who gets which bedroom! The outdoor space is the best spot to hang out and relax and whoever the chef of the group is, can fire up the BBQ and serve some tasty burgers.
Caribbean Wind is next door to Sea Fans. The one thing I really liked about the villas in Mahoe Bay is that even though they are close to one another, there is great foliage between the villas ensuring everyone’s privacy.
Caribbean Wind has 6 bedrooms and is ideal for a large gathering. This villa also has great indoor and outdoor space but the hot tub on the roof makes it really stand out! When you take a the short stairs up to the hot tub, you will be met by the incredible ocean view and this will straight away become your favourite spot to relax.
The villas at Mahoe Bay are also perfect for a large group. Sometimes when travelling to Caribbean islands with a very large group, it can be difficult to get several villas within walking distance of one another. Mahoe Bay is perfect for this as all villas are such a short walk apart so the group can easily have an amazing vacation together yet also have their own privacy when needed.
