If anyone had passed President Uhuru Kenyatta for a weak man, they had better think again!
The internal rift between President Kenyatta and his deputy, William Ruto has been in the media for some months now. But the president did not mince words when he openly confirmed the rift and threatened to crush William Ruto’s Tanga-tanga squad.
What made the whole incident more shocking was the fact that Deputy President, William Ruto was sitting right beside him when he read his riot act. He promised to prove that he was not a weak president, as many think him to be.
The President cleared his mind while addressing the General Conference of the Akurinu Churches Assembly yesterday at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.
During the address, the president rubbished Deputy President William Ruto's Tanga-tanga squad and referred to them as “criminals" who were busy politicking instead of focusing on the development of the country.
Everyone could see that the president was visibly angry as he read the riot act right in front of Ruto who was sitting beside him. He promised to "crush" his detractors trying to derail his unity and progress agenda.
Deputy President William Ruto who was undoubtedly shocked by the president’s threats watched with wry smiles and frowns as his boss tore into the DP Tanga-tanga battalion in a ferocious assault.

Speaking in his native Kikuyu, the President warned for the first time that he should not be mistaken for a weak lame duck President.
"Let them not think they can threaten me. I will flush them out from wherever they are ....wait and see,” the President said.
The MPs allied to Ruto have refused to freeze 2022 campaigns as ordered by the head of state. They are also vehemently opposed to his handshake pact with Opposition leader Raila Odinga.
“If you are a mheshimiwa, go back to the grassroots and build schools and connect people to power with the money you are given. Stop going around telling us how you are going to rise to power. There is nowhere you will go without these people.
“So let them stop making noise to me here because they appear in newspapers and on Facebook.
“All these criminals we elected and are only politicking should not think I am their uncircumcised boy.
“They have been going around here....they did not give me votes, it is me who looked for votes for them. It is you people who put me where I am. I will stand with that until I finish the work you gave me.
“They will not stop me from traveling the path I have constructed for myself and where I want to take Kenyans,” Uhuru ranted.
