Hundreds of Europe-bound refugees and migrants have been left stranded in Agadez, northern Niger, after fighting in Libya between rival governments intensified. Libya has long been a transit point for people in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Dozens have begun to arrive in the northern region of Agadez, joining hundreds of migrants already stranded in Niger.
Every year, thousands of Africans try to escape various situations back home, heading north through the Sahara in the direction of Europe. Agadez, is right in the middle of it all, with it being en route to Libya, and a haven for thousands of people-smugglers make a living off the migration business.
