"Opposition wants to assassinate President Weah" or "a coup has been planned to oust our government" are all patriarchy machinations and diabolical subterfuges that were cooked up and regurgitated by crude, bellicose and bereft regimes of the past. These are hawkish commentaries that remind Liberians quite painstakingly of their country era of brutal dictatorship.
It is shocking, disconcerting and quite ridiculous to hear ranking members of the current establishment reverting to the licentious tendency of our rotten past—hysterically echoing doomsday rhetoric, perhaps, in a vicious and callous attempt to infernally incriminate, and subsequently eliminate certain personalities within the opposition community. What a ploy of cowardice!
It quite marvels me, and I guess many, that a regime that was accentuated to power by the stunning intrigues of democracy, despite legitimate concerns of irregularity and fraud, would brazenly revert to evil and ludicrous tendencies of the doleful past—when critical voices were lied on, thrown behind bars and some decimated in horrific manners.
One wonders from where these regime apologists garnered the temerity to spew such malicious and disdainful allegation against an opposition community that is enriched with credible, peaceful and lawful personalities, I mean people with a proven outstanding reputation in our country.
Ironically, the regime has allies that are profoundly notorious for perpetrating extreme savagism during the country fifteen years bloody carnage. The accounts of the incalculable horror meted on innocent Liberians remain fresh on our minds. They are the ones who have famous records of ousting the government and murdering innocent people in mass.
Truthfully, the country knows with certainty that the current Weah-led regime is chronically entrenched with some of the most dangerous individuals— who are ‘crowned protagonists' of war and terror.
So, if there is anybody plotting to assassinate President George Weah, I strongly believe, it will be some of the blood-stained gangsters who are fond allies of the very President, NOT A MEMBER OF THE OPPOSITION COMMUNITY!
The poor and cheap quality of commentaries oozing from ranking government operatives plainly exposes the intellectual porosity and sterility of the regime—to effectively respond or counter the substance-based debates being conceived and robustly chanted towards the regime by the opposition community.
Look, the regime has to shake up and recalibrate. Plotting false allegations against an arguably the most sophisticated opposition block ever in the political history of Liberia is the most preposterous way to proceed; as such move would only blemish the image of the government, and further harm the already dwindling popularity of President Weah. The sooner President, Dr. Weah can discern this reality; the better it would be for him.
The unvarnished truth is that the administration is plagued by deep-seated paralysis, which is caused by a plethora of glaring and perilous complexities, that include; rampant corruption, shrinkage economy, extreme poverty afflicting the citizenry, flagrant violation of State laws, severe incompetence, political patronage, witch-hunting of opposition and/or perceived enemies, government configured along ethnic lines, rapid corroding of public confidence amongst other incongruities severely permeating the country.
From these perplexing depravities, perpetrated by people in the very regime, arise the fury of an exasperated public who feels so bitter about the BAD manner in which their country is being managed. The citizens are feeling the pinch of the bad governance obtaining at the moment; hence, they are calling on radio talk-shows and writing striking opinions on Facebook — to rightfully vent out their frustration and anger against their government.
By all indications, the regime cannot handle the wave of venom coming from the furious masses, hence, it has gotten frustrated and embattled. The officials are confused and shattered. The opposition, they illogically believe, is the source of the current dilemma the regime is vaguely grappling with. Wow, that's Sad!
No gentlemen, you are taking your fight to the wrong place. Your enemies and problems are within. Look within and correct the MESS, for the filths are right within the system.
Look, gentlemen, our democracy is fast maturing. The Liberian people are becoming more conscious about the governance of their country, the media is more aggressive than ever before and the current batch of opposition is a mix of hybrid professionals who deeply know the issues. This means you have to govern rightfully or face the wrath of skiving public criticism, as well as civil actions guaranteed by the Liberian Constitution.
Good Governance is the only way out! There is no other way! We own Liberia together and must shear the duty to protect the pride and dignity of our country in every aspect. We cannot and should not permit you to loot and plunder our resources while our people perish in impoverishment, neither will we permit you to govern our country like your personal fiefdom. Nope! You must account for your stewardship, and to this end, we offer our all to ensure that our country is no longer expropriated by a few at the helm of power while the majority are left to endure appalling living conditions.
You came to power on the manifesto of CHANGE! It simply your promise for change we are holding you to. How then holding you to your own pledge amount to “plotting to kill the president”? The moment this nonsense was uttered, it was immediately dismissed and rubbished by the Liberian public knowing the character of the MESSENGER…hahahah.
So, say what you want, cook up your wild and reckless allegations as much as you can and cry to bruise, it's up to you, but the opposition shall remain thoughtfully unwavering and unrelenting in advancing the common good of the country, which is to demand Good Governance and all its essential trappings, and to condemn all tendencies of bad governance without fear or favor.
So let me conclude by saying, the assignation plot been viciously alarmed by elements I have decided not to mention by name is total bullshit!
I rest my pen for now...
