When we write, we have hope, and with hope anything is possible. We are living at a time when terrorism continues to pose a serious threat. From Europe, the America to the Middle East, many people are killed every day in acts of terror. It is well documented that many of the world’s terrorism groups are Muslims and are based in Islamic countries, characterized by poverty and government instability.
Meanwhile, governments from countries like the USA, Russia and the United Kingdom continue to deploy troops and drop bombs in an attempt to eradicate terrorism from these countries. I first learned about terrorism when I heard about Osama Bin Laden, the leader of Al Qaeda (a radical Islamic organization which conducts acts of terror, war and destruction of Western targets all over the world in order to establish a global Islamic civilization). I learned that this group destroyed two towers of the World Trade Center in New York. I am sure that many people died in that attack and that it had a negative impact on the United States economy. Of recent, there are many terrorism organizations and thousands of terror attacks especially in Islamic countries and Europe.
Unfortunately, many people including important world leaders like Donald Trump have noted that all Muslims are terrorists. Of course there are many other people all over the world who think that Muslims are ill-hearted and are terrorists. This is not true. In fact Islam requires believers to seek justice and be good. The reason as to why most terrorists groups originate from Islamic countries is due to illiteracy. Many people in Islamic countries are illiterate. Many girls are forbidden from receiving education. They are kept at home preparing them to get married. There are also very few families that send their boys to school. In addition to that, there are few schools for boys and barely any schools for girls. The few available schools are targets for terror groups.
Members of these groups are illiterate. They are hopeless. They do not understand the importance of education. They call it wastage of time and foolish business. It is not their fault. These people never got a chance to receive an education. No one has come up to spread a strong message about education. Few charitable organizations build schools and are bombed. The people who would be helpful in promoting literacy by building schools and providing books and teachers drop bombs everywhere they suspect terrorists not knowing that they are killing many children and helpless women. Victims of war do not see the importance of choosing life over death amidst this situation. This means that there will be more people ready to be terrorists.
Many young boys and girls are kidnapped every year and forced to learn how to kill and commit suicide. The girls are raped and forced to be wives of terrorists. The girls are hopeless after all they have no choice over which man to marry. They cannot stand up and talk on their own. Boys wonder everywhere in the country aimlessly and in the end land into hands of bad hopeless Muslims. At a young age, children instead of learning how to read and write, they are taught that western countries and non-Muslims are bad and therefore should be killed. They learn to shoot a gun, commit suicide among other terror acts.
Unlike western countries and African Christian countries, where there is hardly any terror group, a large population of people is literate. They have hope and hence fight to live than die. When missionaries came to Africa, they built schools and encouraged people to choose education. They taught African believers that with education, anything is possible. Yet here in East Africa, Muslims were the first group of foreign evangelists to come but did not build as many schools as Christians did. That explains why there are no terrorists in western and African Christian countries.
Not all Muslims are terrorists. They lack education. It is the only weapon that can fight terrorism. Those people in Asian countries and African Islamic countries need education. Educate them and give them hope. Education is a rightful ladder to achieving a world free of terrorism.
