Over 100 Prisoners Escape from Nigerian Jail Near Capital After Rain Damage

Abuja, Nigeria – In a startling breach of security, more than 100 prisoners have escaped from the Suleja Prison located near Nigeria's capital, following severe structural damages caused by heavy rainfall.

Authorities reported that 118 inmates managed to flee the colonial-era facility, although 10 have been successfully recaptured as of now.

In response to the escape, a vigorous manhunt has been initiated. "In conjunction with sister security agencies, we have so far recaptured 10 fleeing inmates and taken them into custody, while we are in hot pursuit to recapture the rest," stated a spokesperson from the Abuja prison authority.
